Description
The ruins in the grounds of Penally Court consist of the surviving gable and south lateral wall of a building that may date back to the medieval period. The walls are made of rubble masonry, roughly arranged in courses, and are approximately 0.6 meters thick. The south wall merges into the farmyard wall, making it difficult to determine the original extent of the building or which openings might be original. The height of the remaining gable suggests that the building was quite large. The gable faces west towards the road and features a large blocked opening with a two-centred head. Between the gable and the boundary wall, there is a lean-to structure with a door on the north side. At the rear of the gable, there is another lean-to with a low sheeted roof, which covers the lost north wall. This site is listed as a possible medieval barn or large house.
