Description
St Deiniol's Well is an ancient well with historical significance, mentioned in a church advowson grant from 1301, which refers to a spring of St. Theliai. This well is traditionally identified with that spring, and its location near the Abbey ruins supports this connection.
The well is approximately circular and stone-lined, measuring about 0.9 meters in diameter. Its superstructure is constructed from local stone rubble, with patches of brick. In front of the well, there is a small paved area that is slightly lower than the level of the lane. The superstructure is open-fronted and has a horseshoe shape, standing about 2.5 meters high. It is capped with a sloping stone and features a lintel at the front.
