Description
The Mill Bridge is a Grade II listed structure that features a causeway, which steps out twice on the west side to accommodate the base of a demolished mill from around 1820 and its narrower northern wing. The short section of the main causeway on the left side of the west has its lower part faced with squared stone in regular courses, while the upper part is slightly set back and constructed of rubble, topped with flat grey limestone coping stones. There is a sluice gate arch made of tooled squared stone voussoirs and a keystone. The projection for the northern wing of the mill includes a large raking buttress made of squared stone. The main mill projection features a large segmental arch on the right side with raised voussoirs of cut stone. The walls of the mill have been reduced to the parapet level of the causeway, which has similar coping stones. There is a short length of causeway to the right of the projection.
On the east side, there is continuous masonry with squared stone in regular courses for the lower part and rubble above, along with a coped parapet. There is a raised arch of cut stone leading to the mill on the left and a flush similar arch for the sluice on the right. The remaining low walls of the mill have entrances at the south end and on the east side.
