Description
The gateway to Brother Thomas' Garden, along with the wall to the left, is a 19th-century structure built in 1847. It features a Tudor-arched gateway made of tooled grey limestone, which has a four-centred head and a keystone, supported by piers with impost blocks. The design includes a bull-nosed cornice and a stepped embattled parapet. There is a tablet in the center of the parapet that reads: 'Erected MDCCCXLVII W Walkington Mayor John Smith builder'. The gateway has 20th-century double doors and a cemented fanlight. To the left of the gateway, there is a length of coursed stone wall with a stone coping, extending approximately 20 meters up to the corner of No 10 Bellevue.
