Description

The Treasury Gateway, which was formerly listed separately, is a Grade II structure located along the roadside, extending approximately 38 meters back to Treasury Cottage. It features a Tudor-arched carriage entry made with cut stone voussoirs, likely dating from the 19th century. The gateway has imitation slate coping from the 1970s. The eastern jamb is broad and includes a rounded recess or porter's seat, which is a single piece of hollowed granite. This stone is traditionally believed to be the one on which St. Patrick sat when he had a vision of all Ireland and the people calling him to return.
