Description
The Cottages is a row of six cottages, built in the late 20th century, featuring whitewashed roughcast exteriors and clay-tile roofs. The building has five chimneys, two of which are larger. It consists of two storeys, with four cottages (Nos 1-4) having two windows each, and two double-fronted cottages (Nos 5 and 6) to the east. The cottages have renewed 12-pane sash windows and 20th-century doors. Nos 1 to 4 are arranged as two mirrored pairs, with doors located in the inner bay. Nos 5 and 6 have stuccoed ground floors with central doors positioned between 12-pane sashes, while the upper windows feature eight panes over two, with the outer windows being large and the inner ones small.
At the rear, Nos 1-4 have an outshut with four lead-clad dormers that contain pairs of casement windows. Nos 5 and 6 have a two-storey rear section with five windows, where the middle two are smaller, and a lean-to structure on the ground floor.
There is a rear garden wall made of whitewashed rubble stone, which includes five arched doors. The arch-heads of the last two doors are higher than the wall-head, and all feature stone voussoirs. The doorway to No 6 has lost its arch. The wall-head has been raised with blockwork to support a plastic sheet roof.
The building has not been inspected.
