Description

The Cottages is a row of five cottages, built in the 20th century, featuring whitewashed roughcast exteriors and late 20th-century clay-tile roofs with five chimneys, two of which are larger. The buildings are two storeys high, consisting of four cottages (Numbers 1 to 4) with two windows each, and two double-fronted cottages (Numbers 5 and 6) to the east. The cottages have renewed 12-pane sash windows and 20th-century doors. Numbers 1 to 4 are arranged as two mirrored pairs, with doors located in the inner bay. Numbers 5 and 6 have stuccoed ground floors with central doors situated between 12-pane sashes, while the upper windows feature eight panes over two, with the outer windows being large and the inner ones small.

At the rear, Numbers 1 to 4 have an outshut with four lead-clad dormers that contain pairs of casement windows. Numbers 5 and 6 have a two-storey rear section with five windows, where the middle two are smaller, and a lean-to structure on the ground floor.

There is a rear garden wall made of whitewashed rubble stone, which includes five arched doorways. The arch heads of the last two doorways are higher than the wall head, and all feature stone voussoirs. The sixth doorway has lost its arch. The wall head has been raised with blockwork to support a plastic sheet roof.

The property has not been inspected.
