Description
The Cottages is a row of cottages dating from the late 20th century, featuring whitewashed roughcast walls and clay-tile roofs. The building has five chimneys, two of which are larger. It is two storeys high and consists of four two-window cottages (Nos 1-4) and two double-fronted cottages to the east (Nos 5 and 6). The windows are renewed 12-pane sashes, and the doors are from the 20th century. Nos 1 to 4 are arranged as two mirrored pairs, with doors located in the inner bay. No 1 has an end wall displaying an Elizabeth II 1953 plaque above two ground floor 6-pane windows.
The rear of Nos 1-4 features an outshut with four lead-clad dormers that have pairs of casement windows. There is a rear garden wall made of whitewashed rubble stone, which includes five arched doors. The arch-heads of the last two doors are higher than the wall-head, and all feature stone voussoirs. The sixth door has lost its arch. The wall-head has been raised with blockwork to support a plastic sheet roof.
