Description
8 High Street is a pair of large terraced houses built in the later 19th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and feature a slate roof on No 6, while No 8 has grouted slate. Both houses have rendered large stacks on their end walls and in the center. The front elevations are two stories high with three windows, each featuring 12-pane sash windows above, slate sills, and cambered red brick heads. Below, there are center doors with tripartite 4-12-4 pane sashes in the outer bays and canted bay windows in the inner bays. The doors and windows also have cambered red brick heads, and the doors are four-panel with an overlight. The bay windows have a stone base, 2-4-2 pane sashes, and a moulded cornice.
On the west end wall, there is a first-floor 12-pane sash window and a small gable loft light. The rear elevations include a pointed center stair light with intersecting glazing bars and flanking 12-pane sashes.
