Description

The ruined outbuilding at East Hook is a roofless structure that was once a house, notable for its massive external chimney breast on the northwest end. The building has a square plan that slopes above the base, then returns to a square shape before stepping in just below the gable level, where there is a square shaft. Each section of the building features dripstones, including the chimney cap. Behind and to the left, there are remains of bread ovens.

The southwest front displays a row of former dove-holes with a stone shelf, and there is a door to the ground floor on the left with an iron lintel. To the left of the door is a large loft window, which has stone voussoirs, and to the right, there are outside stone steps leading to a tall and narrow loft door. A window is located to the right of the steps. The southeast end of the building has been demolished, leaving stub walls and a ground floor rubble stone wall that is set back within the structure, which was formerly internal.

At the rear, there is a ruinous wing that features a door with stone voussoirs at the front, an overgrown end chimney, and a lean-to on the end wall. Inside, the northwest end has a very broad cambered-headed fireplace with stone voussoirs forming the arch, and wall corbels are present for supporting beams.
