Description
27 North Road is a simple classical building dating from the 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a three-window facade, featuring roughcast, cement, and scribed render frontages. Number 29 is set forward as a hipped roof end pavilion, with rusticated quoins, cill bands, and plinths. The building has slate roofs, wide boarded eaves, and rendered chimney stacks.
The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features 16-pane sash windows, except for number 26, which has splayed bays with sash glazing. Most windows have lugged architraves and moulded keystones, except for number 25, which has voussoir lintels. The entrances to numbers 24 and 25 are flat-headed, with a panelled architrave for number 24 and a doorcase for number 25. Numbers 26 to 29 have arched entrances with panelled architraves, except for number 29, which lacks this feature, and all have ornamental keystones. The doors are recessed, with a modern door for number 24, an 8-panel door for number 25, and 6-panel doors with fanlights for numbers 26 to 28. Number 29 has a 3-panel door with a 6-pane fanlight.
There are iron railings in front of number 29, surrounding the steps that lead down to the basement. Additionally, there is one 2-light sash window on the end wall facing Darkgate Street.
