Description
25 North Road is a simple classical building dating from the 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with three-window roughcast, cement, and scribed render frontages. Number 29 features an advanced hipped roof end pavilion. The building has rusticated quoins, cill bands, and plinths, with slate roofs, wide boarded eaves, and rendered chimney stacks.
The first-floor windows are 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor windows are 16-pane sash windows, except for No 26, which has splayed bays with sash glazing. Most windows have lugged architraves and moulded keystones, except for No 25, which features voussoir lintels. The entrances to Nos 24 and 25 are flat-headed, with a panelled architrave for No 24 and a doorcase for No 25. Nos 26 to 29 have arched entrances with panelled architraves, except for No 29, which lacks one, and all feature ornamental keystones.
The doors are recessed, with a modern door for No 24, an 8-panel door for No 25, 6-panel doors for Nos 26 to 28 with fanlights, and a 3-panel door for No 29 with a 6-pane fanlight. Iron railings surround the front of No 29 and lead down to basement steps. Additionally, there is one 2-light sash window on the end wall facing Darkgate Street.
