Description

Newholme is a simple classical building dating from the 19th century, featuring two storeys and three-window fronts. Number 7 is slightly advanced and forms a hipped roof end pavilion. The fronts of Numbers 7 and 8 are roughcast, while Number 9 has scribed render on the ground floor and roughcast on the first floor. The building has end pilaster strips, which are lugged on Numbers 8 and 9, plinths, a cill band on Number 7, and an eaves band on Number 9. The roofs are covered in slate, with rendered and brick chimney stacks and boarded eaves.

The windows are primarily 12-pane sashes, except for the ground floor of Number 7, which features later 3-light sash windows. Number 7 has plain architraves, while Numbers 8 and 9 have lugged architraves with ornamental keystones. The entrances include a pedimented doorcase for Number 7, a flat-headed entrance with a bracketed hood and architrave for Number 8, and an arched entrance with an architrave and keystone for Number 9. The doors are recessed, with a 6-panel door for Numbers 7 and 8, which also has an ornate semicircular fanlight with intersecting glazing bars, and an 8-panel door with a 5-pane fanlight for Number 9.

The left end wall of Number 7 is roughcast and features a 12-pane sash window towards the front, along with a cross range at the rear. The right end wall is also roughcast, with a lower two-storey scribed render lean-to at the rear.
