Description
The Stable and Coach-house Range at Bwlchbychan is a two-storey building constructed from rubble stone with cut sandstone dressings, dating from 1850. It features a long range with a hipped slate roof and flat boarded eaves. The ground floor has openings with heads that include recessed cut-stone voussoirs and raised keystones. From the left, there are three windows for the stable, a broad arched stable entry, a similar central window, and three broad arched coach entries. The windows are cross-windows with small panes, and the arches are elliptical with simple raised impost blocks. The stable arch bears an incised inscription reading "J.P.P. Esq 1850". Above, there are four loft lights: one over the stable arch, one over the central window, and two that are not aligned over the coach-house arches. The coach entries have ledged double doors with strap hinges. Inside the stable entry, there are stairs leading to the loft.
The rear of the building features two first-floor windows on the left, followed by a wall-face chimney. To the right, there is a parallel rear range that also has a hipped roof. This section includes three loft windows similar to those on the front, a cambered-headed window and door at the left end, and a right end lean-to with a raised roof.
