Description
16 Eastgate is part of a simple vernacular terrace that was present by the 1834 map, consisting of Nos 14 to 18. The building is two stories high with two-window fronts, featuring scribed render and roughcast, along with plinths. Nos 12 and 14 are designed as reflected pairs. The steep slate roofs are complemented by rubble chimney stacks, which are rendered on No 14. The terrace includes sash windows, with small panes on the first floors of Nos 8 and 16, while No 18 has modern windows on the first floor. The shop fronts of Nos 10 to 18 retain cornices and end pilasters, with No 10 being double fronted and No 14 featuring a bowed entablature. The doors of Nos 8 to 16 are four-panel designs, with No 8 having a fanlight and No 10 including an additional half-glazed shop door; No 18 has a modern door. The rear elevations are made of rubble, whitewashed, and rendered, with lean-tos and cross ranges.
