Description
18 Eastgate is a simple vernacular terrace building dating from the 19th century. It features scribed render and roughcast on its two-storey, two-window fronts, with plinths at the base. Numbers 12 and 14 are designed as reflected pairs. The building has steep slate roofs topped with rubble chimney stacks, which are rendered on No 14. The sash windows on the first floors of Nos 8 and 16 have small panes, while No 18 has modern windows. The shop fronts from Nos 10 to 18 retain cornices and end pilasters, with No 10 being double fronted and No 14 featuring a bowed entablature. The doors to Nos 8 to 16 are four-panel designs, with No 8 having a fanlight and No 10 including an additional half-glazed shop door; No 18 has a modern door. The rear elevations are made of rubble, whitewashed and rendered, and include lean-tos and cross ranges.
