Description

This is a group of simple classical houses dating from the early 18th century. They are two storeys high and originally had three windows across the front, although number 1 has only two. The facades are finished with a textured render and roughcast, accented with rusticated quoins (projecting corner stones) and decorative pilaster strips at the ends. The roofs are slate, with boarded edges and chimney stacks rendered in cement. Most windows are sash windows with 12 panes of glass, although number 3 has been fitted with modern windows. The windows have decorative architraves (surrounding mouldings) framed with keystones and voussoir lintels (shaped stones forming an arch). The doorways share a similar design, except numbers 2 and 3 which have triangular pediments above them. Number 7 has a six-panel door with a four-pane fanlight above, while number 8 has a boarded door with four panels and a matching fanlight. Number 9, located on Regent Street, completes the group, with a single window facing Masons Road and a three-window entrance elevation on Regent Street; it features the same detailing as the rest of the group.
