Description

This is a row of simple classical buildings dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The buildings are two storeys high and have three windows each, although number 1 has only two. The frontages are finished with a textured render, incorporating rusticated quoins (decorative cornerstones) and pilaster strips at the ends. They have slate roofs, boarded eaves, and chimney stacks finished with cement render. The windows are mostly sash windows with 12 panes of glass, except at number 3, where they are modern. The windows are trimmed with decorative architraves, keystones and voussoir lintels. The doorways share a similar design, although numbers 2 and 3 have pediments (triangular gables above the door). Number 7 has a six-panel door with a four-pane fanlight above, while number 8 has a boarded door with four panels and a similar fanlight. Number 9, which fronts onto Regent Street, completes the row, having a single window facing Masons Road and a three-window entrance elevation onto Regent Street, with detailing consistent with the rest of the group.
