Description
The Church Hall, originally built as a church school in 1837 by Thomas Lewis, a joiner from Aberaeron, has been extended in the later 19th century and is now used as a church hall. The exterior is constructed of rubble stone and features a slate roof. It is a single-storey building with an original three-window range on the left, which has been extended with an additional window on the right. The broad pointed arched windows on the left have stone voussoirs and slate sills, while the right window has a brick head and tiled sill. The original windows are fitted with 20th-century glazing that includes straight bars, and the right window features intersecting Gothic glazing bars above a fixed 9-pane light. The added section has a cambered headed window at the east end, with a brick head and 3-light small-paned glazing that includes top-lights. A door is located in the rear wall towards the west end.
Inside, the building consists of a single room that served as the original school, with an additional schoolroom at the east end. The Church Hall is included primarily for its group value with the Church of St David.
