Description
3 Alban Square is a simple classical building from the 19th century, featuring two storeys and a three-window front that is colourwashed, rendered, and roughcast. The structure has rusticated quoins and advanced hipped roof end pavilions topped with slate roofs. It includes ridge dressing to No 4, wide boarded eaves, and a total of eight rendered and one rubble chimney stacks. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are present throughout, except for Nos 3 to 5 on the first floor, where some windows feature lugged architraves and ornamental keystones.
No 1 has a full-width shop front supported by faceted pilasters, with a segmental arched window recess and a bay shop front next to the entrance of No 2. Nos 3 and 4 also have bay shop fronts, while Nos 5, 6, and 7 feature segmental arched window recesses, although the recess for No 7 is partially concealed. No 8 has a modern shop front. The entrances are recessed, with half-glazed and panelled doors.
The left end wall of No 1 is plain roughcast and features a cross range at the rear, while the right end wall of No 8 is finished with plain scribed render and has a hipped roof extension.
