2 Alban Square

2 Alban Square is a simple classical building dating from the 19th century. It is two stories high with a three-window front that is colourwashed, rendered, and roughcast, featuring rusticated quoins. The building has advanced and hipped roof end pavilions, slate roofs, ridge dressing to No 4, wide boarded eaves, and a total of eight rendered and one rubble chimney stacks.

The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are found throughout, except for Nos 3 to 5 on the first floor, where some windows feature lugged architraves and ornamental keystones. No 1 has a full-width shop front supported by faceted pilasters, with a segmental arched window recess and a bay shop front flanking the entrance to No 2. Nos 3 and 4 also have bay shop fronts, while Nos 5, 6, and 7 feature segmental arched window recesses, with the latter partially concealed. No 8 has a modern shop front. The entrances are recessed, with half-glazed and panelled doors.

The left end wall of No 1 is plain roughcast and includes a cross range to the rear, while the right end wall of No 8 is finished with plain scribed render and has a hipped roof extension.
