Description
Capel Carmel is a Calvinistic Methodist chapel built in 1819 and rebuilt in 1832. It features unpainted stucco with a slate roof. The lateral facade has two broad arched windows in the center, which include glazing bars and radiating bars at the heads. There are also two small rectangular six-pane gallery windows and two outer arched doorways, each with ledged doors and radiating bar fanlights. A plaque on the building notes its construction by Mr. Jones of Pantyfehaid in 1819 and its rebuilding in 1832. The chapel has shallow eaves supported by paired brackets.
The raised stucco surrounds, angle strips, and a string course are located at the impost level of the main windows. Inside, there is a later 19th-century gallery that is curved at the angles and features a pierced cast-iron front supported by two cast iron columns. The grained painted pews and pulpit appear to date from a renewal in 1865.
