Description

Wenffrwd is a house dating from the 18th century, constructed of whitewashed rubble stone with a slate roof. It features stone chimneys on the left end and along the ridge to the right of the left bay, and a brick chimney at the right end. The house is two storeys high and has four bays, arranged according to a lobby-entry plan, with a door located in the second bay to the right of the left chimney. The first bay contains hornless nine-pane sash windows on both floors, with a square appearance above and a longer rectangular shape below. A 20th-century board door, with a slab lintel, is situated in the second bay. A straight vertical joint in the wall at first-floor level on the left side suggests that the entire right-hand section may have been added or rebuilt. To the right of the front door is a two-window range of four-pane sashes, with brick heads above the ground floor windows. A lean-to extension is present on the left end, with a door facing the front. A plan in P. Smith’s publication illustrates the layout of the hall between the outer parlour and the inner service rooms.
