Description

This is a circular cast-iron pillar box, dating from the late 19th century to early 20th century, specifically before 1904. It features an embossed inscription that reads "A HANDYSIDE & COMPANY, DERBY AND LONDON". The box has a standard design with a fluted rim leading to a shallow domed cap. The frieze displays the lettering "POST OFFICE" with a letter opening situated between. It has a moulded base and a curved door, which includes a collection plate above an embossed "VR" monogram.
