Description
Cynon Cottage is a Victorian building featuring modern alterations. It is two stories high with a front made of shale and red brick dressings, displaying a slate roof, wide boarded eaves, and a central red brick chimney stack adorned with pilaster strips and a dentil band. The central part of the cottage has an advanced gabled bay that includes twin segmental-headed entrances flanked by pilasters, leading to four-panel doors. Above, there is a blind attic roundel in the gable. The plain full-height end pilasters project to the same depth as the central bay. Very shallow splayed bays have been inserted into the recesses created by these pilasters, featuring side-opening casement windows without glazing bars. There is possibly a mid-19th century lean-to on the left end, made with slightly larger bricks and cambered voussoirs above a metal frame small-pane casement window. On the right end, there is a modern boarded lean-to with a shale gable end. The left gable end has a pointed doorway with brick voussoirs and a small-pane Gothic window beside it, along with a cross range window on the ground floor.
