Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating to around 1850, likely built shortly after the rebuilding of the parish church. It is a two-storey building with a cellar, comprising a main south-facing range, twin-gabled rear wings, and a service wing with a catslide roof. A gabled porch is located on the east side, featuring a cambered voussoir arch. The building is constructed of coursed rubble blocks with machine-cut ashlar dressings and a prominent plinth. It has rubble stacks with an oversailing top course; one small single-flue stack sits over the south pediment. The roof is slate, with ogee eaves-boxing. All windows are twelve-pane sashes with stone cills.

Inside, a dog-leg staircase features a bulbous turned newel on a chamfered and moulded base, with an open string. The doors are four-panelled, accompanied by panelled shutters and ceiling cornices. The kitchen floor is finished with massive flagstones.
