Description
No 2 Dairy Square is a mid-18th century building that was identified as a farmhouse and dairy on T.F. Pritchard's plan from 1771. The exterior features brick construction with a slate roof and two axial brick stacks. It has two storeys with an attic and a six-window range. No 1 has a doorway on the left with two windows beside it, while No 2 has its entrance flanked by windows on the right. Both entrances have six-panelled doors with plain overlights. The windows are 12-pane sashes with flat arched heads. A plain string course runs between the storeys and continues across the gable end, which has blocked windows on the first floor, and is also present on the rear elevation. The rear is mostly taken up by a brick and rubble outshut, which features a fine cast-iron porch at its left angle. The brickwork of the main range above the outshut shows signs of having been raddled. This 18th-century building retains much of its original character and is an important part of the early domestic features associated with Powis Castle.
