Description
Bron-derw-goed is a house with an outbuilding that forms a long range of whitewashed stone rubble construction, topped with a slate roof. This structure underwent remodelling in the early to mid 19th century. The layout features a lobby entry plan, with a boarded door and an overlight positioned in front of the main stack, which has been rebuilt in blue brick. The windows are variously paned timber, set in openings with brick segmental heads and recessed from the wall's face.
Inside, the living hall showcases deeply chamfered parallel spine beams and a timber-framed cross partition leading to the inner rooms. There is a large fireplace with splayed reveals. The roof is constructed with four pairs of crucks, demonstrating high-quality craftsmanship, and includes tie and collar beams, with a full truss exposed in the end bay, referred to as the ty gwau.
