Description
Troed-y-rhiw is a house constructed from rubble stonework and topped with a slate roof. It has a two-bay layout, featuring a lobby entry next to an end stack that leads into a living hall, with an inner room beyond a timber partition. There is a panelled door and one late 20th-century stained timber window in each bay, along with similar windows in the two raised and gabled dormers. Additionally, there are new small windows in the northeast gable end.
Inside, the house boasts a large inglenook fireplace with a high stop-chamfered fire beam and an oven on the rear side. There is a central cross ceiling beam, and the central partition is supported by a pair of full-height crucks, which have a trenched tie and collars, with principal rafters that carry two tiers of purlins. The apex of the truss is not visible. The inner room, which is now used as a kitchen, features a dog leg stair leading to the upper floor.
