Description
The north range of farm buildings at Tan-y-bwlch is a single-storey structure designed for housing cattle. It is connected to the east range at the northeast corner and is constructed from in-situ concrete topped with a slate roof. The building features nine bays, which include five alternating stable doors and ventilation windows.
Inside, the cowhouse range is supported by tie-beam and principal rafter trusses, which hold up a double tier of purlins and a ridge piece. There is a raised feeding walk along the north wall, equipped with timber stall partitions and feed mangers. The floor behind the animals is slightly lowered and made of patterned bricks, designed to slope towards a central drain channel.
