Description
The building is a Calvinistic Methodist chapel, constructed in 1800 and rebuilt in 1868. It is built of whitewashed rubble stone with a slate flat-eaved roof that overhangs the right-hand gable. To the left of the chapel is a small stable with a loft. The front facade features two large, centrally placed arched windows with stone sills, stone voussoirs, and small-paned glazing with radiating bars in the heads. A round-headed plaque above the windows reads: 'Bilidu Capel Methodistiaidd Calfinaidd Adeiladwd 1800 Ail Adeiladwd 1868'. The outer doors have tall arched heads with stone voussoirs and blank tympana, and are four-panel in design. A similar arched window with radiating glazing bars in the head and stone voussoirs is located in the right-hand gable wall. The rear of the chapel has two cambered headed 12-pane hornless sash windows with stone sills. To the left of the chapel, outside stone steps lead to a boarded loft door, with a 9-pane hopper window to the left. Beyond the steps is a ground floor doorway with a cambered head, stone voussoirs, and a board door. Attached to the front wall are low, curving rubble walls with iron railings featuring spearhead finials and a central double gate with dog-bars.
The interior is simple, without galleries, and has a modern ceiling. It is painted with grained woodwork throughout. Features include panelled box pews arranged in five steps, with ramped ends and divisions; a panelled, curved great seat; a panelled pulpit with plain steps on the right, featuring canted angles and a moulded cornice, flanked by box pews on each side with ramped ends.
