Description
The stables and coach house at Bryngwyn Hall form a U-plan courtyard range of service buildings. They are mostly constructed of red brick, with rubble at the rear of the stables. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate, featuring wide boarded eaves on the coach house. The coach house, located at the uphill end, likely dates from 1813 and is built in English garden-wall bond, while the other sides of the courtyard are in Flemish bond and are probably from the mid to late 19th century. The coach house has openings with cambered heads, boarded doors, and 3-light small paned casement windows above. There is a tall round-arched opening at right angles that connects to a through-passage leading to the stables, which are stepped down to the left. The stables feature a boarded door flanked by square-headed windows that are now boarded up. A similar range forms the downhill side of the courtyard and retains its diamond-leaded glazing. The rear of both stable ranges has rubble, except for the top courses of brick, indicating that these were heightened and remodeled from an earlier building. Additional outbuildings at the left (west) end have been demolished.
