Description

Talwrn Bach is a timber-framed house, likely dating from around 1640. The south side displays the timber frame externally, with some evidence on the north side. The main walls consist of a plain, square timber frame arranged in three vertical panels. A large timber-framed porch is situated on the south side, directly opposite the central chimney. A large dormer window, positioned towards the left side of the house, incorporates two windows and features decorative curved corner braces, which align with the building’s date of 1640, as carved into the tie beam. Dormer windows and six lower windows have been fitted into the original timber panelling. The timber framing is painted black and white, while the gable walls and a rear lean-to extension are painted white. The roof is slate, with artificial slates at the rear of the main section. Brick chimney stacks are located centrally and at the ends, and are unpainted. A flat-roofed dormer and modern windows are present at the rear. The interior has not been inspected, but it is believed to retain evidence of a dais canopy, post-and-panel partitioning, and fireplace timber framing.
