Description
Ysgubor Coed-Oer-Le is a barn built around 1800 to the early 19th century. It features rubble dolerite stonework and has a corrugated iron roof that replaced the original slate. The barn has a Greek cross plan, with the main east-west arms consisting of four bays and segmental stone-quoined arched openings in the gable ends. The north arm has blank windows, and each external face includes two tiers of slit vents along with pitching doors in the gables. Inside, the north and south arms retain original intermediate floors. The trusses have jowled and stooled king-posts that support angled braces to the principal rafters, which in turn hold two tiers of purlins, with the central truss resting on square piers. The south wing has been partially converted into a hafod around 1930, featuring a two-storey canted bay window on the east elevation. This barn is noted for being an unusual type of well-built field barn and is claimed to be a 'tithe' barn.
