Description

Huntsman's Cottage is a pair of Victorian two-storey cottages, likely built in the 1870s. The cottages feature one-window red brick fronts with stock brick window dressings, freestone quoins, and hoodmoulds. They have a slate roof with overhanging eaves and a central stock brick chimney stack that has four grouped ornate flues, decorated with barley twist and chevron moulding, along with a cresting and finial on the left side. The ground floor has paired small pane narrow sashes with Tudor hoodmoulds. There are narrow blind openings above gabled porches at each end, which have deeply cusped bargeboards. The entrances have four-centred arches with Tudor hoods, later half-glazed doors, and blank coats of arms. The right gable end features cusped Gothic bargeboards and a lancet attic window, while the left gable end is slate hung and has similar bargeboards and windows. The rear is made of rubble and includes a slightly lower cross range with paired octagonal chimney stacks and a broad lean-to at the back. An additional parallel range is associated with Huntsman's Cottage. The front gardens are complemented by central steps, a low rubble wall to Huntsman's Cottage, and a higher brick wall to Minffordd.
