Description
The Grapes Hotel is a three-storey building with a cellar and a four-window front. It was originally two separate buildings connected by a tunnel passage, with the left side being the original public house. The exterior features painted Flemish bond brick set on a plastered plinth, a gently pitched slate roof, and a saw-toothed eaves cornice. There are tall brick chimney stacks and shallow windows on the second floor. The left side has three-light casement windows, while the right side has two-light casements. On the first floor, there are three-light transomed windows on the left and cross windows on the right. The ground floor has a three-light transomed window on the left and modern oriel windows on the right. The windows have shallow reveals, keystoned plaster lintels, and stone sills. The entrance features a roll-moulded doorcase with brackets supporting the hood, and there are stone steps leading into the lobby. A false door leads to the former tunnel passage on the right, and there is a former door located behind the oriel window.
