Description

Pencraig is a two-storey, two-window farmhouse built in local uncoursed slate masonry, topped with a slate roof and tile ridge. The house faces downhill to the south-west. It features four-pane small upper timber windows set against the eaves, which have pivoting lights, and larger four-pane sash windows aligned below. The windows are fitted with slate sills and lintels. At the center of the house is an open-fronted porch made with large slate flagstones on the sides and top, leading to a modern semi-glazed door. There are end chimneys, which were added before the construction of the stable.

The stable is constructed from similar materials and has a boarded short door at the front with a timber lintel, along with a loft hatch at the rear.

At the back of the property, there is a farm range that includes a byre and a hay barn, both built with uncoursed slate masonry. The byre has a sheeted roof, while the barn has a slate roof with a tile ridge. The byre features a short door with a timber lintel and a large steel window, while the barn has a short door with a concrete lintel and two high-level openings without frames or shutters.

An early 20th-century linking range extends the full length of the rear of the original house, fitting into the narrow gap between the house and the farm range, and is made from similar materials. This rear side, which faces a small walled yard, has two windows above and below, both with stone lintels and sills. There are boarded doors above and below next to the farm range. The linking range also has windows on its north-west gable, including a lower sill that extends out with a large drainage groove from the sink.

Inside, the house has a two-unit layout with a kitchen range in the main room to the left, featuring chamfered beams.
