Description
Plas Trehelig is largely an early 19th century house, though it may incorporate an earlier building on the site, and has undergone later alterations. The house is constructed of brick with slate roofs, with one rear wing having a concrete tile roof. It features strongly overhanging eaves and end and axial stacks. The main block is accompanied by two parallel rear wings. The main elevation is two storeys high, with a four-window arrangement. The entrance is located to the left of centre, within an added timber porch which contains a doorway with an overlight in a reeded architrave. The elevation is divided into four bays, alternately advanced and recessed. The left hand bay is recessed and contains the entrance, while the advanced left hand bay and recessed right hand bay have 16-pane sash windows on each floor. A 12-pane sash window on each floor is located in the advanced bay to the right of the doorway. All windows have flat arched, rendered heads. The parallel rear wings have half-hipped roofs; the eastern wing was extended in the 19th century by a single bay. The interior plan is slightly unconventional, with the entrance hall offset to the left of centre and a separate stairhall alongside it to the right. The right-hand bay features a heavy stop-chamfered ceiling beam with run-out stops, suggesting a possible earlier origin. This is a well-detailed small house from the early 19th century that retains much of its original character.
