Description
No 9 Sarn-y-bryn-caled Cottages is a house that was built around 1830 to 1840 as part of a small settlement developed by the Powis Estate to accommodate agricultural workers. The main front of the house features coursed and squared snecked local sandstone, while the rest of the structure is made of brick. It has a graded slate roof with gable end stacks and stands two storeys tall with a two-unit plan.
The central doorway has a battened plank door set within a shallow timber porch that has a simple architrave. On either side of the door are small-paned iron casement windows with three lights, which have flat arched voussoir heads on the ground floor. This house is part of a group of model cottages that exemplify a small estate settlement and retains much of its original character.
