Description
No 3 Sarn-y-bryn-caled Cottages is part of a row of four cottages built between 1851 and 1861 as part of a small settlement developed by the Powis Estate around 1830. The main facade is constructed of well coursed and squared local sandstone, while the rest of the building is made of brick. The cottages have a graded slate roof with axial brick stacks and are two storeys high. They are symmetrically arranged as two pairs of single-unit cottages, each with a rear wing. Each pair features paired doorways with battened doors set in simple shallow timber porches, flanked by three-light iron small-paned casement windows with flat arched voussoir heads. Similar windows are located above. These cottages are part of a group that exemplifies a small estate settlement and retain much of their original character.
