Description

This is a long range of buildings, dating from the 18th century and 19th centuries, originally comprising a former inn at the left and a range of plain outbuildings to the right. The building is constructed of local slatey masonry, which is unstone-dressed except for the outbuildings, which have been extended in coursed masonry. The inn section is painted cream, while the outbuildings are white. The roofs are covered in slate, with small slates in the valleys alongside the dormer windows. A small, rendered chimney stack is at the left end, and a larger, also rendered, chimney is situated in the middle. There are four boarded doors in the outbuildings section, two incorporating loft hatches. A modern brick lean-to shed is attached to the left end of the main building, and the upper portion of the right gable of the outbuildings is clad in vertical boarding.

The former inn section has a dormer window above each bay, each with a 16-pane hornless sash window, a timber lintel, and a sill. A similar window, with an exposed frame, is located below the entrance to the right. A 6-pane horned sash window, with a cambered stone arch and a brick sill, is positioned to the left of the entrance. The lower window of the left bay has been blocked. A single 16-pane sash window is present in the left gable. The main entrance is a four-panel door set within an open-fronted porch with brick side piers and a slated gabled roof.

The rear of the building has undergone significant alterations but retains early stone lean-to extensions to most of the domestic part. The eaves height at the rear has been considerably raised. To the left of the main central chimney are two four-pane casement windows, one above and one below, that are not aligned. To the right of the chimney is a 12-pane dormer sash window.

Inside, each bay contains two longitudinal beams. A transverse beam separating the centre unit from the original left unit has been sawn off. There is access to a cellar from the rear outshut.
