Description

Bryn Aber Hall is a two-storey building with a symmetrical entrance front, featuring a central bay that rises above the eaves of the hipped-roofed flanking blocks. The central bay has a pediment, beneath which a shallow arch springs from the eaves line of the flanking blocks, and the bay itself is slightly recessed. The outer bays and the attic storey of the central bay are roughcast, while the first storey of the central bay is smooth-rendered up to the sill of the attic window. The roofs are covered in slate with generously projecting eaves and a pediment, and there are restored red brick chimneys. The building has hips and a gable at the rear.

From an oblique approach, the house is further distinguished by a cupola, which is timber, octagonal, open-sided, and contains a bell. Its roof is quasi-domed and also octagonal, featuring hollow countercurved sides.

The front of the house has horned sash windows in the outer positions above and below, with 12 and 15 panes respectively. There is a small-pane casement window centrally located at the first storey, along with a small window in the attic. One hornless sash window remains in the right side wall of the main block.

A lean-to porch has replaced an earlier arcaded porch at the main entrance, which likely had a balcony accessed from a first storey French window. Additionally, there is a large, out-of-character 20th-century rear wing that is roughcast, with a slate roof, UPVC windows, and a red brick chimney.

Inside, the hallway features a staircase with a hardwood rail that culminates in a volute over the curtail step, along with bracketed strings. The timber surrounds of early fireplaces are preserved in three of the downstairs rooms.
