Description
Church Cottage is a small house dating from the 18th century. It features heavy rubble stone end walls with coped shouldered gables that frame the stuccoed north and south facades. The building has a slate eaves roof, a brick stack at the eastern end, and a stone finial on the western gable facing the road.
The house is two storeys high, with a blank stone gable on the western side that faces the road. The southern front has one bay with a door located to the left. This door is a four-panel design with a trellised blind overlight, set in a doorcase that has panelled thin piers and large moulded consoles beneath horizontal moulded brackets that support a curved hood. To the right of the door, there are small-paned three-light iron windows on each floor, featuring Gothic glazing bars in the head of each light. These windows are set flush to the wall face and have moulded hoodmoulds, with the ground floor window being taller than the one above.
At the rear, there is a two-light leaded casement window to the left on the first floor, alongside a single-light stair-light to the right. A modern rear extension has been added to the house. The interior has not been inspected.
