Description

Lake Cottage and Bryn Derwen (with Railings to garden)

The cottages are a pair symmetrically planned, built in irregularly coursed rock faced slate masonry, with slate roof and a part stone, part red brick, shared central chimney stack. The roof has a ridge of decorative red crested tiles. Prominent timber bargeboards to the shared front (half-hipped) gable and to the side gables. There are open porches at the front corners. To the front of each cottage is a boarded door and small window within the porch; four-pane sash window above in the main gable, with stone sill and lintel; three-light sash window below with stone sill, lintel and relieving arch. In the side elevation are a three-light upper window with stone sill and lintel and a small attic light.

At front of the cottages is a railing of unusual lattice type cut from iron or steel plate and bolted together.
