Description

Turnpike milestone, probably c.1830. A limewashed sandstone slab the rounded top, bearing incised lettering reading: BRECON 9 BUILTH 13 On the top, a bronze pin and cut arrow benchmark. Included as surviving evidence of the management of public roads in the early C19.
