Description
Porthamel Farm features a two-storey farm-building constructed from sandstone and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The building has six bays and has been extended to the west with a two-storey lean-to structure that was originally a granary, complete with an external stair. The main entrance is centrally located on the north side and has a chamfered lintel, with an additional blocked opening immediately to the east. There are small ventilation slits, most of which are blocked, and a door on the east gable that is also blocked. At the rear, there are two re-set late medieval chamfered arched doorways and two pitching doors located above. The roof structure consists of tie and principal rafter trusses, although the morticed collars are missing. The upper floor is supported by a central runner, which is held up at intervals by stop-chamfered posts.
