Description

Tynllyne Farmhouse is a two-storey building with a small cellar, attics, and roof spaces, constructed of stone with slate roofs. The stonework has been extensively rebuilt or limewashed, and it features a central chimney made of old stone. Most of the windows date from the 19th and 20th centuries, but the eastern wing has an original window on the north side leading to the roof space, along with two chamfered oak lights. The labels of the original windows are of graduated size on all three elevations. The eastern door dates from the 16th or 17th century and is planked within a heavily chamfered frame, topped with an inner chamfered and Tudor-arched head, and has a stone label.

Inside, there are several old or original plank doors, some featuring arched heads. The hall and dairy have ceilings with chamfered and stopped beams and joists. The partition between these two areas is made of plank and muntin, chamfered, and sits under a roll-moulded beam. The staircase by the chimney is made of stone with wooden treads and has an arched door. The room above the cellar features a plank and muntin partition, which may be a later addition, with very wide timbers and a ceiling with stop-chamfered joists. The eastern wing has features of lesser quality and includes 19th-century panelled doors. There is a staircase to the attics made of early to mid-18th century oak with turned balusters. On the first floor, the eastern wing has an arched doorway and stop-chamfered ceiling beams. The hall chamber contains a chamfered plank and muntin partition that extends fragmentarily above the ceiling to the roof's collar, along with a bolection-moulded chimneypiece. The western wing is divided into larger and smaller rooms by another plank and muntin partition, which also extends above an inserted ceiling. The roofs are original.
