Description
26 and 27 Crescent Street in Penygloddfa, Newtown, are a pair of early 19th-century Georgian houses, each three stories high with a cellar and one window. The front is made of plaster on brick, topped with a gently pitched old slate roof and deep boarded eaves. There are brick stacks, with a new cap on No 26.
The second-floor windows below the eaves feature shallow 8-pane sashes. No 26 has 16-pane sashes on the first and ground floors, while No 27 has later 19th-century 4-pane sashes. Both houses have cellar openings below. The doorways are offset to the right and have plain doorcases with dripboards above. No 26 retains its original door, although the upper panels have been removed, while No 27 has a modern door.
At the rear, the windows are topped with cambered header arches. These houses belong to a group of two, with Nos 26 and 27 Crescent Street being the pair.
