Description
This building, which includes an attached wall flanking the drive, is designed in the Tudorbethan style and dates from the 20th century. It is two stories tall and larger than the eastern lodge with which it forms a pair. The exterior features coursed rubble, a slate roof, and blue brick chimney stacks. The windows are lozenge and diamond panelled, set within stone mullions.
The front elevation has a stepped design with two windows and a rendered section on the right side. It includes a gable parapet with broad stepped kneelers. At the center, there is a shallow projection topped with crenellation and a cornice, featuring a two-light window with a returned label over a splayed bay. To the right, there is a similar window on the first floor above a panelled and boarded door, which also has a label. The gable end is slate hung, and there are some modern alterations to the cross range.
The side elevation facing the drive has three windows and features an advanced central bay with a gable. On the ground floor, this bay is flanked by three-light windows, while the remaining windows are two-light. A stepped back rubble wall borders the drive and the side of the Library, extending south for approximately 20 meters to the corner.
