Description
Lower Goytre Farmhouse is a 1½-storey house featuring roughcast walls and a slate roof, with a stone stack to the right of the center and a brick stack to the left. The original part of the house is located between these two stacks. The original northwest lobby entrance is hidden within a later low gabled projection. To the left of this projection are two windows that have been replaced in earlier openings, along with two gabled dormers. On the right side, the building has been raised, adding two new windows and a dormer. A stone lean-to is attached to the left gable end.
The rear southeast elevation, which faces a field rather than the yard, has been remodeled in the 19th century. It features a boarded porch at the right end with a half-glazed door, two replaced windows, and two half dormers. The area to the left of the stack has also been heightened.
The original lobby-entry plan remains intact. Inside, the small hall includes a fireplace with a large stop-chamfered lintel and a bread oven. There is a single spine beam with plain stops. In one corner of the room, a 19th-century staircase leads to the upper floor, with stone steps to a cellar located directly beneath it. The parlour retains a fireplace with a stop-chamfered lintel, and to the left of this fireplace is the embrasure of an original narrow window.
